Grassroots Gold Medal Youth Program Information

Curling Jamaica has developed the grassroots gold medal youth program that will identify and train eight U18 Jamaican athletes (4 boys / 4 girls) each year. Our mission is to recruit these young athletes born and living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. 

 

This unbelievable opportunity will be awarded to the winning candidates who will live, learn and train in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada during the curling season (September – December). 

Note: The program may be expanded to encompass Jamaican youth (U18) born outside of Ontario, Canada.

Highlights and Features:

  • Full billeting for each athlete with a local family.

  • Attending a Canadian school in the community.

  • Professional curling coaching from former World Champions.

  • Dedicated league and practice at two curling clubs in the community.

  • Program expandable (September – April) based on funding.

  • Many other activities to enhance their experience.

 

Curling Jamaica has a vision for the Youth of Jamaica to excel in curling, where we will build teams from the athletes that have graduated from our Gold Medal Youth Program and will one day compete for Jamaica in the World Curling Championships. Our "Golden Dream" is for Jamaica to stand on the top of the Olympic podium!
